Legacy Chess Academy is an educational organization that offers services to provide chess instruction, encourage student development, and build awareness to the community of the values of chess.

To encourage personal growth, education in chess development, and to provide a nurturing fun social environment.

“The game of Chess is not merely an idle amusement. Several very valuable qualities of the mind, useful in the course of human life, are to be acquired or strengthened by it, so as to become habits, ready on all occasions”

– Benjamin Franklin: On the Morals of Chess(1779) excerpt.

What will students learn?:

  1. Correct piece placement and board set-up

  2. Algebraic Notation

  3. Chess game fundamentals (Piece development, castling, check, checkmate, etc.)

  4. Chess etiquette

Once students master these introductions to chess the instructors will then move onto more advanced play.

  1. Strategy

  2. Tactics

  3. Gambits

  4. Openings, Middlegame, and Endgame understanding

Our camps include a large variety of creative activities to enjoy. Our curriculum is not only designed to develop their strengths over the board, but to provide an environment where students have the opportunity to share ideas with one another and participate in competitive play.
